Cancer Awareness Club
Advisor: Ms. Watkins
Description: The Cancer Awareness Club’s goal is spreading awareness and educating teens about cancer. Our main goal also includes raising funds that will ultimately go towards St. Jude’s Hospital to support children who are fighting cancer. Some of our activities include making cards for patients at nearby cancer hospitals, having guest speakers come and speak about cancer, hosting fundraisers, educating club members about different types of cancers, and much more! We are also getting support from an organization called Connect4Cancer, which is a huge organization that is trying to spread cancer awareness. As a club, we will strive for an inclusive community where everyone can have a strong voice through empowerment, service, and advocacy. We will also have volunteering opportunities with St. Jude’s Hospital by spending time with the kids or helping at the front desk. To achieve our goal, we plan on having club meetings every other Wednesday for about an hour where we will maintain a positive environment.
Meeting Day and Times: Every Other Wednesday in A311 at 2:10pm
Student Leaders: Alicia Kim and Pranathi Gadhanki
Activities: We plan on having fundraisers, guest speakers, volunteering opportunities, and more!
