Description: Freshman Math Team competes in math meets in the Worcester County Math League and practices every week to prepare for those competitions.
Activities:
Shrewsbury’s Freshman Math Team competes in math competitions as a member of the Worcester County Math League. There are 3 league meets per year.
The team practices once per week starting at the beginning of the school year and running through the end of the competition season in March.
Practices give students a chance to practice the topics in the upcoming meet.
For many of the topics, there will be teaching sessions related to the topic. These sessions may be taught by a Math Team advisor or a Varsity team member.
Math Team members are given the opportunity to compete in the annual MAML Math Olympiad offered in the fall. Stronger performers on the team will also be given an opportunity to participate in the AMC 10 math competition.
