Please note that children must be 5 years old by August 31st, 2024 (DOB 9/1/2018-8/31/2019) to enroll in kindergarten and 6 years old by August 31st, 2024 (DOB 9/1/2017-8/31/2018) to enroll in 1st grade for the 2024-2025 school year.  We are unable to make any exceptions to these age requirements.

You will be required to upload the documents below in the registration portal.  We kindly ask that you have all of your documents scanned or photographed prior to starting the application so that you may upload them while completing the registration form.  This makes the enrollment process run smoothly and quickly.

You do not need to re-register your student for the 2024-2025 school year if your student currently attends Shrewsbury Public Schools.

To be eligible to attend Shrewsbury Public Schools, parent/guardian(s) and student(s) must physically reside within the bounds of the Town of Shrewsbury.  Owning property, paying taxes, or residing in a building that is partially within town boundaries (driveway, land, etc.) alone does not meet criteria to enroll.  Please click here to see the map of the town lines and residences eligible for enrollment in Shrewsbury Public Schools.

If warranted, residency checks may be conducted by the School Department or the Shrewsbury Police Department at any time during a child's enrollment in the Shrewsbury Public Schools.

Clear, legible scans or photographs of documents are allowed.  Your student's registration will not be complete until we receive all of the following documents.

In order to help the enrollment process run efficiently, we kindly ask that you upload the documents in the registration portal.  If you are unable to upload in the portal, you may email them to registration@shrewsbury.k12.ma.us.  Please include your child's full name and year of enrollment.

  • Student’s birth certificate
  • Student's passport (if not a U.S. birth certificate)
  • Student's health records: immunization records & copy of last physical
  • Student's school records
  • School authorization form (grades 1-12)
  • Most recent report card (grades 5-8)
  • Official high school transcript (grades 10-12)
  • Parent's photo ID: driver’s license, passport, or other valid government-issued ID
  • Proofs of residency (pick 3):
    • Signed lease agreement
    • Signed purchase & sale agreement
    • Property deed
    • Current year real estate tax bill
    • Bills dated within 30 days
      • SELCO
      • Gas
      • Propane
      • Oil
      • Water

If applicable, please also upload:

  • Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) documents
  • Section 504 Accommodation Plan documents
  • Guardianship papers, custody papers, or court orders

The Town of Shrewsbury must be the legal residence of parent/guardian(s) and student(s) in order to attend school in Shrewsbury Public Schools.  If using a P&S agreement, you must be residing in the home within 60 days of the closing date listed on the P&S according to School Committee policy.  Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 76, Section 5 states: "Every person shall have a right to attend the public schools of the town where he/she actually resides, subject to the following section.  No school committee is required to enroll a person who does not actually reside in the town unless said enrollment is authorized by law or by the school committee.  Any person who violates or assists in the violation of this provision may be required to remit full restitution to the town of the improperly-attended public schools.  No person shall be excluded from or discriminated against in admission to a public school of any town, or in obtaining the advantages, privileges and courses of study of such public school on account of race, color, sex, religion, national origin or sexual orientation." (Amended by st. 1971, c.622, c.1; st. 1973, c. 925, s.9A, st. 1993, c.282; st.2004, c.352, s.33)
