RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor activities at aquatics facility to prevent accidents

• Determine chlorine content and pH value of water, using water testing kit, and maintain chemical records
• Maintain facility cleanliness

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum age: 16 years
• Swim distance using crawl or breaststroke without resting: 100 yards
• Feet-first dive, retrieve a 10-lb brick from a minimum depth of 8 feet and bring ti to the surface
• Tread water without using arms for 1 minute
• Must possess strong communication skills

Description: The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Conservation and Recreation, is Seeking High School Students who are interested in applying for Lifeguard Employment.

DCR Summer Lifeguards are State Employees, receive $22/hour, accrued sick time, and the option to attend one of our Free Red Cross Lifeguard certification courses prior to hire. The first Free Red Cross Lifeguard certification class for 2024 summer employment will be during 2023 December School Vacation in Worcester.

Applicants must be 16 years old prior to June 15 2025, or before date of hire whichever comes first. We aim to fill our open positions before March so any students interested in Summer Employment should reach out soon. Our next Free Red Cross Lifeguard certification class is over February School Vacation in Worcester with additional options for classes in the Spring.
