Keep Your Child’s Emergency Contact Information Updated

It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to keep their student emergency contact information updated.  You must do this by logging into your PowerSchool Parent Portal account and updating the information there.

Click here for the Parent Portal website.

In the event of an emergency, the district will communicate to parents and guardians using our automated communications system using the information you provide.

ChildSafe Protocol and Missing Children

On each school day, parents/guardians are responsible for reporting any student absence directly with their child’s school.  By mid to late morning, automated attendance messages will be sent to any parent who has a child absent but has not called in to the school to report the absence.

If your child is missing on a school day, please report this to both the child’s school and Shrewsbury Police Department at 911.

School Security & Emergency Planning

A multi-layered approach is taken towards maintaining school security.  Some strategies employed include:

  • Locked exterior doors/restricted access
  • School Resource Officer at Shrewsbury High School
  • School Resource Officer for PreK-8 schools
  • Roving police patrols on school campuses 24/7
  • Multiple communication and alert systems
  • Video surveillance systems
  • Regular student and staff emergency drills
  • Periodic tabletop training exercises between the School Department, Police & Fire Departments, and other municipal offices
  • Annual/as needed school building assessments conducted
  • Staff ID badges
  • Anonymous Tip Line (web-based)

Other Related Safety & Security Strategies
