Caryn Keenan – Coordinator/Advisor

Dear Parents:

The Oak Middle School will once again be sponsoring a Ski Club after school during the winter season. The program was very successful last year and promises to be equally popular this year. Ski club is not a team; it is group skiing/snowboarding offered at discounted prices. It is for all skiers and snowboarders, beginners, intermediate, and advanced. The ski club is an extra activity and will be under strict guidelines. Any student with inappropriate behavior in school, on the bus or at the mountain will lose their privilege to ski with the group with absolutely no money refunded!! All students who join ski club will be required to wear a helmet!

Under the direction of Ms. Caryn Keenan the ski club will be traveling to Wachusett Mountain on Wednesdays starting January 8, 2020 and running 6 Wednesdays to February 12, 2020. We are limited to 2 busses for our weekly trips so membership will be limited to 105 students. Acceptance will be on a first come, first serve basis. All busses will be leaving from Oak Middle School.

The cost of ski club for the 6-week session is $126 (which includes 6 lift tickets) plus $80 for the bus. The Oak Middle school activity fee of $75 must be paid in order to participate. Information on our new online payment can be found at this link. The application for Wachusett can be found online only; please follow these directions to get to the link.

Century passes are available through us for students, parents and family members. In order to get the best century pass price you must sign up before December 4th. The Century pass prices are as follows.

  • Silver century pass= all nights and weekday (non holiday) and early/late season weekends for $339.
  • Bronze century pass= all nights and weekdays (non-holiday) for $279

Prices for the century passes go up $100 starting December 4, 2019.

Century passes are also valid before and after your regular school program and on days even if your session has been cancelled. Students purchasing a century pass will be responsible  for bringing their pass every week.

If you have already purchased a century pass through another group then your child may still ski with us provided that they have paid the bus fee and the activity fee. They will still have to register and fill out an application for the shrewsbury group on the Wachusett website above. There is a space to check off  “already has pass” on the application. The waiver/registration on powerschool needs to be completed as well .

The deadline for the applications to be filled out and bus money due back to Coach Keenan by December 2nd. Please remember that enrollment is on a first come first serve basis and once we have reached the 105 student capacity we will not be able to take any other applications. The sooner you get your completed application and payment in the surer you are to get a spot.

Please remember that the bus money is separate and not included in the payment to Wachusett Mountain. December 2nd will be the last day I accept any applications unless the ski club is not full.  If you are trying to register after this date please make sure you contact me first to make sure there is still space available, and remember prices jump the 4th of December!

If you are interested in chaperoning ski club please email me at the address below. Anyone wanting to chaperone must have a CORI check per law. If you have any questions please contact Caryn Keenan via email or call 774-696-3765.

If for some reason the ski club does not fill up then I will take applications until the first session that we ski. However the price of the badges do go up the 2nd of December. Please refer to the Wachusett Mountain Brochure for details.

Regards,
Caryn Keenan
