Oak FRENCH CLASS NEWSLETTER

Fevrier

Bonjour Nos Parents:

All of our French students are working hard in class!

In Grade 7 Students have started the new unit: Sports et Passe-temps, students will learn about sports, activities, weather, seasons and learn how to integrate all of these elements to describe what they do or do not do during the year. They will learn to use the irregular verb faire to talk about activities they do and the verb jouer to talk about sports that they play.

In Grade 8 Students are taking parts of their High School French Placement Exam this month.  The written composition will be completed in class on February 7th.  The multiple-choice section will be completed on February 12th. Students will learn their placement following February break. In order to prepare for the placement exams all grade 8 French students were given packets containing review material. They were asked to work through the packet and to ask clarifying questions about it at the start of every French class.

In class students are continuing to study the Amusons-nous vocabulary and many irregular but commonly used verbs. They are learning to make plans with friends to do favorite activities. Upon finishing this unit, students will participate in “The Earth without Art is just “Eh” PBL which will allow students to explore a variety of French artists and to portray the artistic style of that artist in the 21st Century. All student work will be displayed and explained in French using Flipgrid . We look forward to seeing the creative results of this PBL.

If your son or daughter is in 8th grade and is attending the NYC French field trip:
The balance for the French Field Trip to New York is $90.00.  This is due by February 8th. Please make check payable to Oak Middle School. The total cost of this year’s trip is $220. A deposit of $130 has been received.

Respectfully,
