S.T.A.R. (Students Talk And Resolve)
The S.T.A.R. Peer Mediation program at Oak Middle School has been providing training and mediations for many years. We are excepting mediation applications until Oct. 20th.
Our goal is to help students in conflict reach an agreement or compromise that both are willing to uphold. We use respect and proven mediation steps that provide each side with the opportunity to be heard and listen to the other person’s perspective. Mediation is a voluntary process. Mediation is confidential. The mediators do not judge or take sides.
Mediation provides a peaceful option for students to resolve conflict. On behalf of the student mediators and the advisors we are proud to provide this service to the Oak Middle School community.
The skills that are taught and practiced during the two-day training session are lifelong lessons. These two days will take place during school hours (they are not back to back). If you feel your son or daughter would be interested in being a mediator please have them fill out the online application.
