Sherwood is pleased to offer the Gap Junction Junior Veterinarian Program as an after-school enrichment program for sixth grade students. Gap Junction classes are taught by veterinary students from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in North Grafton. Students who participate will learn about animal science through classroom experiences and hands-on projects that may include looking at real x-rays and models and learning to use a stethoscope to listen to a heartbeat. Students will travel to Tufts where they will take classes in real laboratories and perhaps have an opportunity to visit the farm animals!
Dates: January 14, January 21, January 28 and February 11 (students must attend all 4 sessions)
Open to: Grade 6 students
Deadline: Janury 6, 2020
Students will be bused to Tufts from Sherwood Middle School, leaving school at approximately 2:15 and returning to the school at approximately 4:45 pm. Parents are responsible for transporting children home from Sherwood Middle School.
We are looking for students who are interested in animals and science. This program will be offered to a maximum of 30 sixth grade students. Please do not sign up if you cannot attend all four of the sessions. If more than thirty students sign up, spots will be chosen by lottery.
How to Register: If you are interested, there is an application in the Sherwood Middle School office that students can pick up that includes information about dates, times and the fee for the program. You may also dowload the form here. If you have any questions, please speak with Mrs. Gablaski.
The deadline for applications is Monday, January 6, 2020
