AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES PROGRAM (ASAP)

Registration for the next session opens Monday, January 31st at 7:00AM

How to register:

  • Log in to the parent portal
  • Select "Sports, Activites and Permission Slips"
  • Click "School Based Activities"
  • Choose the class you wish to take by clicking "Assign Fee"
  • Select "Payment Center" and you will be redirected to SchoolPay to complete your transaction.
  • IMPORTANT: Your seat in the class will be canceled if payment is not received at the time of registration

Class: Yoga
Instructor: Ms. Bindu Gupta
Schedule: Mondays,  2:55-3:55

Cost: $40 total for all 6 classes
Description: Students will learn some basic yoga poses and easy breathing exercises, to help calm their minds and body. Yoga mats are provided.

Class: Paper Crafts
Instructor: Ms Adelina Baka

Cost: $40 total for all 6 classes
Description: In this class, students will get to experiment with paper and watch how a simple cut can transform the paper into a work of art like a flower or an animal. Join us for fun and creativity!

Class: Board Games Club

Description: Each week students will have a chance to play a variety of strategy games, while enjoying socializing with friends

Class: Geometrocity

Cost: $40 total for all 6 classes
Description: You have been chosen to design a new city for the people of Geometic City.  Your job is to create a city filled with geometric shapes and designs.  As a lead architect, you will be tasked with creating city infrastructure such as buildings, roads, parks and more.  Along the way,  you will have specific design elements that must be incorporated wit each portion of the city.  The City Council of Geometrocity looks forward to seeing your work.

 

Additional Information:

  • There is no transportation for this program. Students must be picked up promptly at 3:55
  • Classes are open to Sherwood Middle School students only.
  • Please note that the ASAP programs do not require the $50 district activity fee. You are only required to pay the fee associated with the activity. (The district activities fee does NOT cover this program.)
  • Classes will need to meet minimum enrollments (10 students) in order to take place. We will contact you ONLY if a class is cancelled.
  • There is no nurse on duty at the school during the after-school program.
  • We must be able to reach a parent/guardian or designated adult by phone that can immediately come to the school in case of an emergency or unacceptable behavior.
  • Classes only meet on days when school is in session. Classes will not meet on early release, vacation, holidays or parent conference days. Instructors will arrange for a make-up class for these days.
  • On occasion, a class may be cancelled the day of class. Students need to listen to announcements to learn about a cancellation. Parents WILL NOT be notified of day-to-day cancellations. After school plans should be in place for all students in case of cancellations.
  • If a class is cancelled due to weather or other circumstances, the instructor will arrange for a make-up date.
  • Expectations for appropriate student behavior are the same as during the school day. Students who do not behave appropriately may be asked to withdraw from the program.
  • There will be no refunds.

The Sherwood After School Activities Program (ASAP) offers hour-long classes that run once a week after school for 6 weeks. 

Each class costs $40. Class titles vary depending on the interests and availability of the teachers.
Classes are only open to the students enrolled at Sherwood.  Information about the classes will be posted here, and will be included in the principal's weekly email to parents.
