STANDARDIZED TESTING

Testing Calendars

The PSAT

The exam will be offered at SHS on Saturday, October 13. Reporting time for the exam will be 7:30AM and the registration fee will be $27.00. Students should enter by the front office main entrance and those who drive must park in the students’ parking lot.

Registration for the PSAT/NMSQT will take place beginning September 11th and ending on September 22nd. Registration will be online using a system called Total Registration. See the link below. Students who fail to register on time run the risk of being omitted from the testing date or paying a late fee. After September 26th, the late fee will be an additional $10.00 depending on availability of tests. No registrations will be accepted after September 29.

Who should take the PSAT/NMSQT?

All juniors planning on taking the SAT in the spring and sophomores are strongly recommended to register for this exam. This test serves as the entry exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program when taken in the junior year. The test is a very good indicator of how students will fare on the SAT exam.

Sophomores contemplating signing up for AP English in grade 11 should plan to take this exam because the score is one of the factors considered in AP English recommendation and placement.

Official PSAT and SAT practice can be found at KhanAcademy.org.

Please see your school counselor if you have any questions concerning the exam.
