2025-2026 Coolidge School
Reading and Math Incentive Program
The Coolidge Reading and Math Incentive Program was established many years ago to encourage students to practice reading and math skills at home. Students will read and or practice math each night and track those minutes/activities on reading and math tracking sheets. The program will run from October 14, 2025, through Friday, May 1st, 2026.
Coolidge students are encouraged to track their reading and math minutes on the math or reading tracking sheets attached to this communication. Each time a tracking sheet is filled, students will bring the sheet back to school and receive a new one. Throughout the year, students will earn prizes for completed charts — and if your child completes at least five reading charts and five math charts by the end of the year, they’ll receive a GOLD medal to celebrate their hard work. If your child completes at least five charts in one subject area, reading or math, they will receive a SILVER medal.
Each student is encouraged to read (or be read to) for a set amount of time each day. After reading, they can cross off or color a treasure chest on their chart for each completed reading session. Reading completed for weekly homework in grades 1-4 can count towards your student's daily reading goal for the reading incentive program.
Kindergarten–Grade 2: Color one book for every 10 minutes of reading.
Grades 3–4: Color one book for every 15 minutes of reading.

Each student is encouraged to practice math facts, complete math homework (including ST Math Time Assignments), or work on Freckle for a certain number of minutes each day. After completing their math practice, they can cross off or color a robot on their chart. Math practice completed for weekly homework in grades 1-4 can count towards your student's daily reading goal for the math incentive program.
Kindergarten–Grade 1: Color one robot for every 5 minutes of math practice.
Grades 2–4: Color one robot for every 10 minutes of math practice.

The goal is to build excitement, confidence, and consistency — one book and robot at a time!
Midyear, you will receive a notification sharing how many sheets your child has completed for reading and math incentive tracking.
This program is run with the support of PTO Volunteers. If you have any questions or if you’d like to help track student sheets toward our reading and math incentive goals, please email Whitney at wagauger@gmail.com.
