Dear Floral Families,

In just two weeks, we’ll be welcoming families  into their children’s classrooms to share about their family’s culture and traditions as part of our schoolwide Culture Connections Week (running the week of October 21).  By now, all classroom teachers have reached out to their families with details about the schedule and how you can participate. We can’t wait to visit classrooms and be a part of this shared experience with students and teachers.  The Floral community is incredibly rich in its diversity and we can’t wait to celebrate that with families.

Can’t come into school during the day that week?  Not to worry- we’ll be sure to take plenty of photos that will be shared with all of you when you come to school for your Parent-Teacher Conference on November 12th.  We appreciate all of the families who have already signed up to share!

Friendly Reminder:  There is NO SCHOOL for students tomorrow,  October 14th, in observance of Columbus Day.

For Fourth Grade Parents & Guardians:  MCAS 2019 Parent/Guardian Reports

On Tuesday, October 15,  fourth grade families will be receiving reports sharing their child’s performance on the Grade 3 Spring 2019 administration of MCAS.  MCAS data is used to inform our practices and refine and strengthen teaching and learning across the district. Overall, our students continue to perform well and the information provided by these reports will be used in conjunction with our own district and school measures to continuously monitor and support the growth of all of our students.  We look forward to this work.

If you have any questions about the information contained in the reports please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher.

Lost & Found Items at Floral Street School

The items are piling up in the Lost and Found here at Floral! There are many sweatshirts, jackets, water bottles and lunch boxes that have been left behind. Please stop by to take a look and claim any items that belong to you sometime before Friday October 25. Any items left after October 25 will be donated.

Teacher Appreciation Event – Contributions needed

Our next Hospitality event for teachers and staff will be our second annual "Trail-Mix Bar" on Thursday October 17th. Floral staff will have an opportunity to visit throughout the day and choose from a variety of items to create their own customized snack blend!

If you would like to volunteer to bring an item or two, please follow this link to our Sign Up Genius:

Collections will be ongoing through October 16th, and a box will be located outside the main office. Please contact Kerry Harrington at with any questions.

Floral Family Fun Fair

Save the date! This year’s Floral Fun Fair will be held on Saturday, November 16th from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Join fellow Floral families for a day filled with games, prizes, fabulous raffles, silent auctions, food, crafters, and a Scholastic book fair.

As part of the event, each classroom will be collecting donations for a theme basket, which will be raffled off at the fair. Stay tuned for details about class themes and how to contribute.

Most important, we are in need of volunteers to help us plan and run the fair. If you would like to join us, contact
