Dear Floral Families,

We find it hard to believe that we’ve reached the end of the school year- it has been one of great joy, growth, and many, many student accomplishments.  We thank you for your support and partnership throughout the year.

As a reminder, the last day of school is Friday, June 14, with an early dismissal starting at 12:15pm (no lunches served).  Students will be taking home their Trimester 3 report card on the last day.  Parents will learn about next year’s class assignment by logging into the Parent Portal in Powerschool in early August.

We wish all Floral families a safe, fun-filled, and joyful summer!

Lisa and Gina

P.S. THANK YOU in advance to the Floral PTO for hosting the end-of-year staff appreciation luncheon this coming Tuesday  and to all parents who are contributing to the luncheon. Your kindness is greatly appreciated, and the foods you prepare are delicious!

Staff Updates

We want to express our appreciation to the following staff members who will be retiring or moving on to new opportunities next year.  Each of these staff members has made countless contributions to our school community; collectively, they have made a positive impact on thousands of students during their years of service here at Floral.  We want to express our gratitude to:

Susan Harrington, First Grade Teacher, who will be retiring at this end of this school year

Debbie Martel, Second Grade Teacher, who will be retiring at this end of this school year and returning in the fall as a reading tutor.

Kristen Ridder, Second Grade Teacher, who will be relocating this summer and teaching in Scituate next fall.

Kathleen Barnes, Instructional Coach, who will be returning to Paton Elementary School and teaching fourth grade

Emily Song, Special Education Teacher, who will be relocating to the Baltimore area this summer.

Sarah Crump, Music Teacher, who will be relocating to California this summer.

We know you all join us in wishing these educators all the best in their new ventures.

Note from the Nurse - Medication Pick Up

If your child has any medication in the nurse’s office, please make sure to pick it up by 12:00pm on Friday, June 14th.  Please be aware that medications cannot be stored in our office during the summer months because of the extreme fluctuation in temperature.  Any remaining medications will be discarded.

Also, if your child will be taking medication at school in the fall, please make sure you contact your doctor and have them fill out a new medication order for the 2019/2020 school year.  If your doctor needs an order form, you can find the form on our website.  Please bring the medication in its original container with the doctor’s order on the first day of school.  Thank you!

Kristin Stewich and Julie Hamilton,  Floral Street School Nurses, (508) 841-8729;

Moving? Not Here on the Last or First Day?

Please notify the office at 841-8720 if you are moving this summer or know that your child will be absent during the last day(s) of school.  Also, if you are aware that your child will not be at school on the first day of school in the fall, please call the office now so Lynda and Jen can document the absence and notify the teacher.  Thank you!

Lost & Found Items:  Let’s Get them Back to Their Owners

There are still many unclaimed items in the Lost and Found. Just a reminder that any items that remain in the Lost and Found on the last day of school will be donated. Please feel free to check in at the Lost and Found table/buckets when you are visiting Floral during the last weeks of school.
