K, 1, 2 Active Bodies, Active Minds: I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream I scream – you scream – we all scream for ice cream!  Students will engage in a variety of activities throughout this ice cream themed week.  Our daily schedule will include outdoor gross motor games, crafts, mindful yoga practices, and play based literacy, math, and dramatic play centers.  Students will have fun painting with colorful “paintsicles”, scooping the letters in their names and serving up ice cream specials at the Ice Cream Shop in our Dramatic Play Area.  After a virtual tour of a small ice cream factory, students will graph their favorite ice cream flavors.   Grab your spot before they all melt away! K, 1, 2 Active Bodies, Active Minds: Monkeying Around At The Zoo Students will engage in a variety of activities throughout this Zoo Animal themed week.  Our daily schedule will include outdoor gross motor games, crafts, mindful yoga practices, and play based literacy, math, and dramatic play centers.  Students will move like their favorite zoo animal while practicing skip counting and can become a veterinarian while visiting our Dramatic Play Area.  Daily Zoo Animal crafts and sensory experiences will have your child roaring for more! K, 1, 2 For the Love of Puzzles Jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, seek and find puzzles, mazes, brain teasers and puzzle games!!! Do you love everything puzzles? Do you like to challenge your puzzler? Then this is the class for you. Come and explore all types of puzzles and puzzle games. Challenge yourself to do a something different whether it's a 100 piece puzzle or, dare I propose the challenge, a 500 or 1000 piece puzzle! (I double dog dare you!) Are you curious about where it came from, why we wear costumes, who are witches, are ghosts real, are black cats really unlucky, do vampires (and other monsters) exist? All these questions and more will be answered in this class. We'll do some crafting, play some games and enjoy this magical holiday. K, 1, 2 Second Chance Crafts. Join me for some crafty fun using recycle materials. Bring in old cd’s, tissue/shoe boxes, plastic (clean) drink bottles, empty oatmeal containers, corks or anything else you can think of that might have a second life as something else. A bird house/ feeder, planter, sun catcher, wind chime, whirly-gig, robot, jet pack or anything you can think of. You’re imagination is your limit and there is no limit for your imagination. K, 1 Social Skills Superheroes Students will decide on and design their superhero avatar and through a series of direct teaching and skills-based training on social skills, read alouds, games, art projects, and writing projects (chose by the student) they will complete missions to show just how much of a super friend they can be to others!  This class is appropriate for students who require specialized supports during the school year or need more Social Emotional Learning support but is open to ALL!  Co-teachers are both special ed teachers. Students will participate in a variety of outdoor games and sports, including track and field events, obstacle courses, and student-created games! Wwe will learn what lives in our oceans, the ocean zones, and about the the sea animals habitat, what they eat, who are their predators. 1, 2 Crazy 8s Math Club Have you ever wanted to hunt for hidden treasure using clues from secret codes?  Do you want to see how far you can throw a roll of toilet paper or use a roll of toilet paper in a relay race?  You can do both in the Toilet Paper Olympics!  You can also make geometric shapes with glowsticks, play floor darts, toss bouncy dice and learn how to play the Crazy 8s card game (you will go home with a pair of dice and deck of cards!).  Come have fun while using math! 1, 2, 3, 4 Gymnasium of mind The kids will exercise their mind while playing fun brain games such as team quiz, trivia, crossword puzzles, riddles, Sudoku games, jigsaw puzzles, word problems, cards, chess and other games that rely on logic, math, word and visuospatial skills and hence are great ways to increase brainpower. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Chess Without Stress The course inspires the students to think out of the box and to share their logical evaluation regarding chess game to their peers. It will educate kids how to look beyond obvious rather than just playing action/ reactionary game. We learn and practice various chess traps and patterns recognition, solve tactics logically and take memory tests. The students are exposed to a wide variety of kinesthetic, visual and auditory activities as we integrate dynamic elements such as videos, puzzles, games, and fun workouts within and outside the class. 2, 3, 4 Field Hockey and Lacrosse  You will have fun playing and learning the basic skills of field hockey and lacrosse or further develop your skill set in these sports. We will work on skill work and play games each day. 2, 3, 4 Get Your Game On! Life is more fun when you play games, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do! Students will spend the week competing in various “game shows” with fellow classmates, including “Wheel of Fortune,” “The Floor is Lava,” “Family Feud” and “Jeopardy.” In addition, students will have access to a variety of board games, and even work together to create their own! 2, 3, 4 Meet the Artist Break out your paint brushes and get ready to create your own masterpieces! Students will have a chance to discover their inner artist by exploring different painting techniques and mediums. Each artist will be given guidance and suggestions while they work to create unique paintings using watercolor and acrylic paints.  At the end of the week, students will get to show off their talents in a gallery-style display. 2, 3, 4 The Art of Cooking This class will involve cooking from diverse cultures. Kids will be introduced with food and recipes from several cultures, and learn how to make it. 2, 3, 4 The Problem Solving and Design Process A bear with an itchy back and a trapped mouse need problem solvers to help them!  Participants will use problem solving skills by following the process of identifying a problem, brainstorming possible solutions, planning the solution, creating the solution, testing it out and revising it to make it better.  Participants will then present their solutions to the rest of the group.  A new problem will be presented every day and participants will bring their plans and inventions home with them. 3, 4 Different Sport, Different Day During this course we will explore a new sport each day: basketball, baseball, football (flag football) and soccer. Through books and videos, we will learn about the history and origin of each sport and how they’ve evolved for both men and women in this sport. We will then dive into how to play the sport by learning basic skills of each game. Lastly, we will apply our knowledge and play the sport! All equipment will be provided except baseball/softball gloves (please send you child in with one, I will have a few for borrowing). 4, 5, 6 Cricut Creators  Cricut is a smart cutting machine that helps you create designs, and make them come to life on paper and vinyl! In this class, students will learn to how to use the Cricut software on their iPads, and then make them come to life! Once designs are created, throughout the week, we will create cut outs on card stock paper, print out vinyl stickers, and design iron on vinyl pieces that we can iron onto an object of their choice! 6, 7, 8 Printmaking Mania  Print blocks, stamps, and cards – oh my! Printmaking is an ancient form of art that is just as fun today as it was thousands of years ago. Students will experiment with both Soft-Kut and linoleum print-blocks. Students will learn how to carve, ink, and print their ideas using a variety of colors and on various types of papers. 3 Camp Read S'more The purpose of this Reading Enrichment “Camp” is to help students complete their summer reading. This could be for a student that struggles with comprehending what they read or students that love to read! Students will be able to complete one summer reading assignment during the week. This will also help students with executive functioning skills in organizing a plan to complete summer reading. Students will be assigned a chapter to read at home everyday and participate in “book club” discussions about what they read to better understand the content. Students will also have fun participating in small activities each day to make reading fun and engaging. Students will design a desk tent to get cozy in while listening to the story be read to them, there will be opportunities for students to read out loud to their peers in smaller groups, they will follow step by step directions to make a book snack trail mix, and they will design their own bookmark that they will be able to keep! After each read aloud, students will also practice summarizing chapters/taking notes. 3, 4 Different Sport, Different Day During this course we will explore a new sport each day: basketball, baseball, football (flag football) and soccer. Through books and videos, we will learn about the history and origin of each sport and how they’ve evolved for both men and women in this sport. We will then dive into how to play the sport by learning basic skills of each game. Lastly, we will apply our knowledge and play the sport! All equipment will be provided except baseball/softball gloves (please send you child in with one, I will have a few for borrowing). In this class, students will learn to how to use the Cricut software on their iPads, and then make them come to life! Once designs are created, throughout the week, we will create cut outs on card stock paper, print out vinyl stickers, and design iron on vinyl pieces that we can iron onto an object of their choice! 4, 5, 6 Knitting In this fun class students will be introduced to the fiber arts with a focus on learning how to  use yarn to knit.  Students will explore a variety of knitting techniques including traditional knitting using 2 knitting needles, circle loom knitting, and finger knitting.  We will also explore other ways to use yarn such as making pom-poms.  No experience is required for this class.  However, if students have previous knitting experience they are welcome to join and work on projects and possibly learn some new techniques.  July 17-20 12:00-3:00 Jennifer Bolt

5 Camp Read S'more The purpose of this Reading Enrichment “Camp” is to help students complete their summer reading. This could be for a student that struggles with comprehending what they read or students that love to read! Students will be able to complete one summer reading assignment during the week. This will also help students with executive functioning skills in organizing a plan to complete summer reading. Students will be assigned a chapter to read at home everyday and participate in “book club” discussions about what they read to better understand the content. Students will also have fun participating in small activities each day to make reading fun and engaging. Students will design a desk tent to get cozy in while listening to the story be read to them, there will be opportunities for students to read out loud to their peers in smaller groups, they will follow step by step directions to make a book snack trail mix, and they will design their own bookmark that they will be able to keep! After each read aloud, students will also practice summarizing chapters/taking notes. Come learn about Theodor Geisel the person, artist, and author while creating art in the spirit of Seuss! We will make éclairs, tarte aux pommes, palmiers, and crêpes while exploring French language and culture through crafts, blogs, and authentic media. Students will spend the week competing in various “game shows” with fellow classmates, including “Wheel of Fortune,” “The Floor is Lava,” “Family Feud” and “Jeopardy.” In addition, students will have access to a variety of board games, and even work together to create their own! In this class, students will explore the elements of home design, how colors work together, and why interior design matters! We’ll also create vision boards for design challenges and dream homes. Each day, students will do a new craft/project to decorate a space at home! Throughout the fun, we'll brush up on a few real-world math skills (budgeting, measurements, scale drawings). 6, 7, 8 Printmaking Mania  Print blocks, stamps, and cards – oh my! Printmaking is an ancient form of art that is just as fun today as it was thousands of years ago. Students will experiment with both Soft-Kut and linoleum print-blocks. Students will learn how to carve, ink, and print their ideas using a variety of colors and on various types of papers. 6, 7, 8 Ultimate Frisbee Fun Come learn to play one of the fastest growing team sports in the country!  Ultimate Frisbee combines concepts of football, basketball and soccer (and sportsmanship!) to produce an exciting non-contact sport.  Shrewsbury High School physics teacher, current ultimate frisbee player and former coach of the Holy Cross ultimate Frisbee team will combine drills and fun games to teach your child how to play this new and exciting sport!  July 10-13 12:00-3:00 Patrick Collins
