About the SPS Foundation
In conjunction with the SPS Colonial Fund, the SPS Foundation helps to raise, and facilitate the distribution of funds among the nine public schools in the district to purchase CTE equipment, instructional materials and technology essential to day-to-day teaching, filling funding gaps in the standard school budget. Since 2008, the SPS Foundation and the Colonial Fund have raised over $850,000 to directly benefit our students. These funding initiatives arise from new opportunities or require unique funding, ensuring students have access to experiences that expand their learning and career horizons.
What Have Donations to the SPS Foundation Made Possible?
Thanks to generous supporters, we have brought a wide range of enriching programs and experiences to our students, including:
- STEM Days and Career Immersion Days at leading companies like Olympus (Biomedical equipment), Marvell Semiconductor (chip development), Component Sources International (Manufacturing) and Charles River Labs(Pharmaceuticals)
- Career and Job Fairs, such as the Career Fair on February 6th and job-shadowing opportunities during school breaks
- Transportation to Career Exploration and Experiential Learning events like vocational courses at the Blackstone Valley Hub for Workforce Development, Youth in Motion and the Senior Scoop program
- Special Programs such as a New England Sports Management Summit and Wellness initiatives
- Advanced Classroom Technology and materials that enhance teaching and learning
- Wellness initiatives for the classroom
These experiences provide students with real-world exposure to potential careers, hands-on learning, and access to advanced technology and wellness resources that enrich their educational journey.
Why Give?
Every year, Shrewsbury educators discover new ways to inspire students, or discover opportunities to expand career technical education and career exploration for middle and high school students. These programs often require resources beyond what the annual budget allows. Gifts to the SPS Foundation provide those resources, fostering innovation and creativity both inside and outside classrooms. With your support, we can continue to enhance learning experiences that directly benefit our students, preparing them for future success in both college and careers.
