WE DID IT - THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!

The Anatomage Table Has Arrived at Shrewsbury High School!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of donors like you, we are thrilled to announce that Shrewsbury High School has officially purchased the Anatomage Table — a cutting-edge, life-sized 3D virtual dissection system that is already transforming learning for our Biology and Biomedical Pathway students.

This state-of-the-art technology allows students to explore the human body in extraordinary detail. With just a touch, they can rotate, zoom, and virtually “dissect” muscles, organs, bones, and more. Anatomy isn’t just being taught — it’s being brought to life. See a full video by clicking on any of the pictures below.

During our recent showcase, SHS Biology teacher Dr. Rana Dabbagh demonstrated the table’s remarkable capabilities. Within moments, she performed a virtual vertical dissection of a real human body, revealing internal organs, then shifted seamlessly to the facial musculature that makes us smile and frown. The audience was absolutely captivated!

Guests then had the chance to try the Anatomage Table themselves, and they eagerly jumped in. These kinds of immersive, hands-on experiences are elevating our classrooms to true college-level learning environments, giving students a deeper, more intuitive understanding of the human body.

Our students are just as excited. Grade 12 student Ana Maloy, who is studying Human Body Systems, shared how meaningful this tool is for her:

“The Anatomage Table greatly benefits me, especially because of my learning disability. Sometimes paper isn’t enough, and the Table helps me understand lessons so much better. The 3D visuals, incredible details, and interactive activities really help me remember what I’ve learned.”

Did you know? Research has shown that learners who utilize the Anatomage Table are better equipped to enter the healthcare profession, thanks to its immersive and effective learning experience (NIH, Kavvadia EM, Katsoula I, Angelis S, Filippou D. The Anatomage Table: A Promising Alternative in Anatomy Education. Cureus. 2023 Aug 6;15(8):e43047).

The purchase of an Anatomage table allows students to explore and manipulate the scans of 5 real human cadavers (3 male, 2 female) along with 309 animals.  Students can isolate and explore systems and organs magnified to a resolution of 0.2mm with some regional tissues going to a depth of 0.05mm.  Students can simulate a number of unique conditions such as pregnancy and heart blocks along with comparing over 1300 real scans of normal and abnormal tissues and organs.  Furthermore, the table is mobile – ensuring that it can be moved to multiple classrooms.  All of the 1,850+ high school students who take courses in Biology, Human Anatomy, and Principles of Biomedical Science will benefit, as well as students in future courses starting next year, in our planned Biomedical and Life Sciences Innovation Career Pathway program.
