What is it?
The Colonial Fund exists to fund high impact innovations within our schools that would not otherwise be feasible. These projects or opportunities often come up outside of our annual budget cycle or they are too costly to offer without sacrificing existing programs or staff.
The Colonial Fund enables us to bring these innovations to our schools now. Acting with such expediency helps ensure Shrewsbury schools are providing the high quality education that will prepare our students to succeed in colleges and careers of the 21st century.
Since its inception in 2012, The Colonial Fund has raised over $345,000 for innovative projects in Shrewsbury Public Schools.
Each year, teachers and administrators discover new ways to inspire and excite our students. The Colonial Fund provides the resources to explore these ideas, since many require funding that is not available in the regular school budget. The Colonial Fund gives teachers a unique opportunity to be creative and innovative,
This year, we raised $143,000 to be used for the "greatest needs" in our district. With the current budget challenges due to the pandemic, this money will be used to preserve educational excellence in our schools. We are thankful to have these funds to help us provide for the needs we know about now and the needs we will discover throughout the year.
