SNACK Time AT PARKER ROAD
Snack Program
Our snack time is an important activity in the Preschool Program. Teachers use this time to model healthy eating habits & good table manners and to encourage socialization. Our preschool classrooms across all three locations are considered “Allergy Aware”. This means our Preschool teachers and staff are made aware of all student allergies. At the Preschool level we discourage any nut containing foods, due to the prevalence of nut allergies. Students are asked to bring in their own daily snack in a container labeled with child’s name on it, and these snacks will not be shared with other students in the classrooms due to serious food allergies. We encourage families to send in a wholesome snack choice as well as a water bottle each day. Some suggestions would be small servings of cut up fruit or vegetables, crackers, goldfish, pretzels, yogurt, etc. We do have saltine crackers on hand for any student that might forget to bring in a snack.
If your child has a special diet or has significant food allergies please contact the school nurse, Brenda Filiere at (508) 841-8669.
Rest time is only offered for our Full day IEP students. It is not offered for students attending a half-day but if a teacher notices a child is sleepy then a place to rest is offered on a beanbag or other cozy material.
