arrival & dismissal INFORMATION - THE LOOPING LINE
Arrival & Dismissal
The Parker Road Preschool uses a Looping Line System for child drop-off and pick-up.
Parents should drive around to the back entrance of their child's building, forming a line of cars. Parker Road has a designated unloading and loading zone. This zone is designated by orange cones (zone = 9 spaces). You can unload and load between the orange cones.
At arrival, when parked in a designated spot, parent turns car off, and takes child out of his/her car seat, walks (holding hands) him/her to the arrival entrance door.
At dismissal, when parked in a designated spot, the parent turns the car off, goes to the designated dismissal door to pick-up the child, walks (holding hands) him/her to the car, and secures him/her in the car seat.
Parents are not permitted to park and bring their child into school or pick-up from school to avoid the Looping Line. Every effort is put towards making arrival and dismissal run as safely and smoothly as possible. We ask that you keep discussions with staff to a minimum to create an efficient process.
Other expectations:
- Drive slowly - 5MPH
- Put your phone away
- Drive on our campuses "like your child lives here"
- Be polite and patient
- Do not pass cars or the school buses
Please be prompt for Arrival and Dismissal
Children become anxious when arriving late to school and it disrupts your child's learning and his/her classroom. At dismissal when parents are delayed, some children become anxious and upset. Another reason to be prompt is to be respectful of the lunch time staff have between morning and afternoon sessions and meetings at the end of the school day. If you find that you have an unavoidable situation and know you are going to be late for arrival or dismissal, please call the school.
