Thank you to the many families who were able to participate in our Curriculum Nights last week.  We are grateful to have had the opportunity to share many of the goals for the coming year as well as work that will be done in the coming months to support a healthy and strong home/school partnership.  We are very appreciative of your support.

 

Our PTO is hosting/facilitating a number of events for students and families in the coming weeks to provide opportunities to get to know others as well as providing many opportunities to support our school.  Below, please find information about the Spirit of Spring Street Dinner, Chess Club, French Club (new this year!), and information about our school directory.

 

As I shared at our Curriculum Nights, our PTO’s support enables our students to participate in a variety of enriching experiences which would not be possible without your contributions, participation, volunteering, and overall support.  We are very fortunate to have a very strong, collaborative partnership with our parent community.  We are looking forward to another great year.

 

French Club at Spring Street School

We are excited to offer beginner French language lessons for Spring Street School students. The instructor will lead children through vocabulary lessons, hands-on projects and immersive conversation. Classes are held on Tuesdays from 3:20pm-4:20pm in the Media Center and begin on October 2.  For more information please see the attached flyer or check out your Monday communication folder. Chess Club at Spring Street School

Chess Club is back for the Fall session!  Please see the attached flyer and registration form for more detailed information.  Registration forms and checks are due by September 26. Please note that this program is for children in Grades 1-4. You can also register online here:https://squareup.com/store/spring-street-parent-teachers-organization-inc.  Please include your child's/children's name(s) and teacher(s), as well as whether they are in Extended Day, in the "Note to merchant" section during checkout.

 

School Directory Sign Up

The PTO prepares a wonderful resource for our community every year. The School Directory includes student family contact information, faculty and staff e-mails, class lists and the school calendar. This is a great tool for planning playdates and birthday parties too! A booklet will come home with students in October. Please consider including your family in the Directory by completing the online form at  https://goo.gl/MU5atm.  Please Contact Nora Perry at norawperry@gmail.com with questions.  Forms must be completed by Friday, September 26th to be included.

 

Spring Street School Family Dinner Dance

Mark your calendar for the Family Dinner Dance on Friday, September 28th from 6-8pm.  Fun for the whole family! Dancing and games in the gym with a DJ and a buffet style dinner and desserts for $30 per family or $8 per person.  Complete the reservation form on the flyer in today’s communication folder or register online at https://squareup.com/store/spring-street-parent-teachers-organization-inc . PRICE CHOPPER and STOP & SHOP REWARDS Programs

It is a new school year and the time to sign up for our fundraising programs using your Price Chopper and Stop and Shop Advantage cards. Thank you for all the families that signed up last school year!  PTO received a check for over $700 from Stop and Shop and supplies for art worth more than $250 just for shopping!  We appreciate the many families that helped make this program such a success just by registering your advantage cards and earning money for our school every time you shopped!  If you would like to sign up for this program this year, it is very simple.  You will just need to have your advantage cards handy and then follow the instructions below.  For those already signed up, your registration just rolls over to this new school year!

After School Yoga Class

Spring will be offering an after-school yoga class on Wednesdays, starting October 3^rd. The classes will run for 6 weeks, and the cost for the whole session is $40.

STEM Beginnings Session

STEM is Fun for Kids at Spring Street Elementary School – Fall 2018 Session 1 | Grades K-4

The new session of STEM begins on September 24 and runs for 8 weeks (no class 10/8, 11/12). STEM is Fun! In our STEM classes, children will think, construct, experiment & learn by doing hands-on activities and STEM challenges. They will explore the use of different learning tools that enable and emphasize STEM learning. Every class, we learn something new and experience a different kind of fun. Young Rembrandts Drawing Classes

Young Rembrandts Drawing Classes will be starting up again at Spring Street School! Classes will be after school on Thursdays, 3:25pm-4:25pm.  The first 8 week session of the year will run September 27th- November 15th.  Class is open to all Spring Street students. If you have a child who loves to draw come join us!  New lessons each week means no repeated classes! NEW THIS YEAR — all registration is online.
