Shrewsbury Public Schools invites community members to donate to our RISE (Reaching Independence through Supported Employment) programming and Maple & Main, an innovative retail store located at the heart of Shrewsbury Center. The focus of RISE is to increase students' (ages 18-22) overall independence with functional academic life skills, employment opportunities, and community access. This learning involves touring local businesses, job shadowing, internships, and employment. The emphasis on providing community-based opportunities for these students with disabilities is paramount, as they learn and develop key life skills. RISE students play an integral role at Maple & Main, as they design and create products, take inventory, provide customer service, and operate the point of sale system.
Here are some local news stories about the RISE program, Maple & Main, and most importantly, the incredible young adults and educators who work together to make great things happen for our community!
