Dear Shrewsbury Families, Colleagues, & Community Members,
As we head into the February vacation week, I want to express my gratitude for all of your efforts and support of our students. Thanks to all of you, Shrewsbury's children are benefiting from high-quality educational experiences provided by dedicated, caring educators and support staff.
This past Wednesday evening I presented my recommendation for the 2023-2024 school year budget (i.e., Fiscal Year 2024). Thanks to the financial support provided by our community through the operational override passed in the spring of 2021, we will continue to enjoy the stability of having sufficient resources in the next school year to avoid budget cuts to staffing or programming, while providing a modest amount of additional resources to meet requirements and address key priorities. Presentations on specific areas of the budget will be made at upcoming School Committee meetings, and there will be a public hearing on the budget at the meeting of March 29.
At that same meeting, I also presented a recommended calendar for the 2023-2024 school year. The School Committee will vote on the calendar at their next meeting on March 1, 2023.
