I am proud of the way our schools have honored our veterans in recognition of Veterans Day. Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the Oak Middle School assembly, where the OMS Band performed, the Worcester North High School NJROTC color guard presented the colors, and three Oak students interviewed three Shrewsbury U.S. Army veterans about their experiences: Colonel Nancy Hughes Collins, Major Steven Brady, and Captain Samuel Cantrell.
This morning, at our town's annual Veterans Day ceremony at the World War I memorial in the town center, the Walter J. Paton School Third Grade Chorus performed a medley of songs from each military branch, and SHS band members Chase Orciuch and Kieren Ghidella played taps. Many other SPS students participated in the ceremony as part of their scout troops. For photos, click here.
To all of our veterans who are part of our schools and community, thank you for your service to our nation.
