Meeting Tonight & Updated Draft School Year Calendar

March 16, 2021

Dear Shrewsbury Families, Colleagues, & Community Members,

Please note the following:

TONIGHT: Joint meeting of the School Committee & Board of Selectmen tonight at 7:30pm:
There is a joint meeting of the School Committee and the Board of Selectmen this evening at 7:30pm to discuss the town's financial challenges and plans related to a possible Proposition 2 1/2 override ballot question that would provide additional revenue for municipal operations and school programming.  This meeting will be broadcast live on the Shrewsbury Media Connection Governmental Channel 30/330 and live streamed on the Shrewsbury Medial Connection website here.

Updated Draft School Calendar for Next School Year:
Below is a link to an updated draft of the calendar for the 2021-2022 school year.  Adjustments made in this draft based on feedback include starting the school year for students in Grades 1-12 on Wednesday, September 1, which avoids having the first day of school on the Jewish High Holy Day of Rosh Hashanah, while still providing two professional development days during the first week of school to support the planned opening of the new Beal School.  The last day of the school year in June 2022, without any snow days, would be June 15.  The School Committee is scheduled to vote to establish the calendar at their next meeting on March 24; if you have feedback regarding the calendar, please send an email to schoolcommittee@shrewsbury.k12.ma.us or me at jsawyer@shrewsbury.k12.ma.us.
