February 1, 2021
Due to the expected duration and magnitude of this storm, all Shrewsbury Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, February 2. Town DPW crews will be working through the night plowing roads, and there will not be time for campuses to be safely cleared in time to hold school.
This will be a traditional snow day, not a remote learning day -- there are no expectations for any students to complete any schoolwork from home tomorrow. It is my hope that when we make this day up on Friday, June 18 there is more opportunity for in-person learning. Tomorrow is a day where students can enjoy sleeping late, hot chocolate, playing in the snow, reading for pleasure, etc., while older students can help out their families and neighbors with shoveling out (and, if they're old enough, it's obviously a perfect day to introduce them to the redemptive tale of Phil Connors in the movie Groundhog Day). Please remember to help our firefighters out by clearing snow away from any nearby fire hydrants as well -- thank you!
Stay safe and warm, everyone. Let's hope Punxsutawney Phil prognosticates an early spring tomorrow!
