Important Opportunity: Online Homework Discussion

HOMEWORK: Helpful? Hurtful? How do you experience homework?

Dear Shrewsbury Public Schools Families & Colleagues,

We are excited to launch another open and interactive conversation using Thoughtexchange, an online survey tool. From April 29 to May 13, we want to hear from everyone- students, staff, parents and guardians- about homework.

The district’s current homework policy has been in place for a long time. As part of our district goals, we plan on revisiting our guidelines. We’ll start by gathering information from our school communities, and learning about your perspective is a key part of the process. The results of this exchange will inform the School Committee and other key stakeholders in advance of formal recommendations for changes this coming fall.

On Monday, April 29, you will receive an email inviting you to participate in an online discussion. We’re hoping that you will share your thoughts on what we’re doing well with homework- and how we can improve.

Interested in learning more? These links will connect you to recent research, our current policy, and a video that explains our goals for the project.

Thank you.
