This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week. Throughout the year, our teachers are work tirelessly to help our students to grow in many ways. Please join me in recognizing the outstanding work that your child’s teacher does on a daily basis. Without their dedication and support, our students would never realize the academic, social, and emotional growth and success that they do. Additionally, our teachers work each day, in and out of school, to help our student to develop into respectful, kind, and caring members of our community. A simple note/email from families and students is always a great way to show you’re your appreciation.
National School Nurse Day is on Wednesday. Please also join me in recognizing the outstanding work of our nurse, Mrs. Rebecca Carle. Each day Mrs. Carle provides medical services to many of our students. We are very fortunate for Mrs. Carle’s medical expertise as well as her compassionate care of our students. In addition to providing care for bumps, bruises, and scratched knees, Mrs. Carle is always available to provide social and emotional support or even provide a quiet area for those in need of a respite from their day.
We’re very appreciative for the contributions that both our teachers and nurse make to our school. Please take a moment, if possible, to recognize and convey your appreciation!
Early-Release Day Tomorrow

Field Day Tee Shirt Orders
Wow, it’s almost the end of the year and how we all love Field Day at Spring Street. The children love to wear their field day shirts representing their grade on Field Day. In Monday’s folder there’s a t-shirt form that needs to be return to school by this Thursday, May 9th if you are interested in placing an order. Those not choosing to order a tee shirt are welcome to wear a shirt that they may already own that is the same color as their grade level. Each student will receive a pink form in their Monday’s folder, if you have more than one child at Spring Street, you can use one form for all your children. Please make sure you pick the correct color t-shirt, each color represents their grade. Please return so we can guarantee t-shirts will be ready for Field Day. Lastly, if you need financial assistance for the t-shirts please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Rebecca Carle at rcarle@shrewsbury.k12.ma.us or at 508-841-8706. If you have any questions about field day t-shirt forms please contact me Paula Palermo at lppalermo@me.com.

Volunteering Requirement-CORI Checks
Anyone volunteering at our school must participate in the Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check before volunteering. Volunteering includes classroom volunteering, field trips, field day, etc. Once a CORI check has been completed, your ‘CORI’ is valid for 3 years. CORI checks are applicable to any volunteering in the Shrewsbury Public Schools. Unfortunately, CORIs completed elsewhere are not valid for Shrewsbury Public Schools. This link can be used to access the form. Please return the completed form in person to Mrs. Judith Adair, our secretary, with your license for the CORI to begin being processed. Please allow for at least 2 weeks for CORI checks to be completed before participating in any volunteer activities at our school. Volunteers without a completed and processed CORI will be unable to volunteer until the process is complete. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Shriners' Hospitals Can Pull Tab Collection
We all feel so much better when we help others! Shriners' Hospitals around the world help children and their families with life-threatening conditions. We are fortunate to have a Shriners' right next door in Springfield, MA. We can help by collecting/bagging can pull tabs and bringing them into school. Thanks to Mrs. Welch for spearheading this donation drive! Please see the attached document for more information.
