About the Shrewsbury Public Schools

Shrewsbury, a suburban community of 33,456, is located to the east of Worcester and thirty-five miles west of Boston. Shrewsbury is a family-oriented town whose reputation for excellent schools and a strong sense of community involvement have attracted many new residents.  School enrollment has increased by 2,000 students over the past thirteen years.  The community has been supportive in providing funds for several new capital projects, including the $64 million high school that opened in 2002 and the $22 million middle school renovation, completed in 2004, and the new grade 5-6 middle school that opened in 2013.

More than 90% of the high school graduates pursue a college degree, many at top-rated universities.

Shrewsbury Public Schools values professional growth and supports a strong staff development program, including full day professional days for teachers and a number of onsite graduate level courses and workshops. In addition, there is a non-student day allocated district-wide for parent conferences. A strong mentor program supports new teachers to the district. Tuition reimbursement is available to staff on an annual basis.
