Registration Policies and Procedures

Registration and payment is made through the Powerschool Parent Portal.  You are limited to one course selection per child for the week.  Classes will be closed as they are filled and will no longer be visible on the registration form once closed.

Registration Instructions:

  • Login to “Parent Portal”
  • Select “Sports, Activities, Permission Slips” or “Sports and Activities” from the menu on the left
  • Select “Summer Spark Program”
  • Click on the class you wish to take under the Payment Information column to assign the fee.  Costs per class are listed below.
  • Click on “Payment Center” on the left to pay for the class.  Your spot is not confirmed until payment is received.
  • Return to “Parent Portal” and refresh your browser
  • Return to the Summer Spark Program Registration page
  • Click the registration box in the column next to the class you paid for
  • At the bottom of the list of classes, click the box that says “Enroll in Summer Spark”
  • Your registration should now be complete

Please note: You will not receive a confirmation email.  To confirm your child is enrolled, click “Fee Account Statement” from the menu on the left.  If the class is listed and the Balance Due is $0, then your child is enrolled in the class.

Because Summer Spark must be financially self-sufficient, courses that do not attract adequate enrollment will not be offered.  If you pay for a class that is listed as “pending and enrolling” and that class is later cancelled, a full refund (including registration fee) will be sent.  ONCE FULL PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE, NO REFUNDS WILL BE GRANTED UNLESS A CLASS IS CANCELLED DUE TO LOW ENROLLMENT.

  1. Full payment, either online through the parent portal or via check made payable to "SPS Colonial Fund"
  2. A completed Emergency & Health History form

Student Eligibility

The Summer Spark programs are for students who will be entering grades 9, 10 and 11 in the fall of 2019.  The only exception is the Pre-College Workshop which is only available to students entering grades 10 and 11.  Exceptions will not be made regarding grade level eligibility.

All programs will be held at Shrewsbury High School.  Transportation to and from Summer Spark at the beginning and end of class time is the responsibility of the student’s family.

All field trips will depart from, and return to, Shrewsbury High School in time for the regular drop off and pick up times.

Lunch and Snacks

Snacks and/or lunch are to be provided by the student’s family.  Students will eat in the cafeteria from 12-12:30 and will be supervised by Summer Spark staff.  Lunch is not available for purchase during Summer Spark.  During field trips, students may eat their bagged lunch at the location of their field trip.

Health/Medical Procedures

All students must submit the "Emergency and Health History Form" after registration.  A medication order form must also be on file if your child will require medication during the day.  This medication order must be completed and signed by your child's prescriving physician/nurse practitioner and must also be signed by a parent/legal guardian.  Please note, teachers are not allowed to dispense medication.
