Thank you to the many parents who offered to participate on our School Council this year.  Our School Council parent representatives are Paul Balutis, Colleen Cummings, Andrea Finnegan, Katie Karter, and Richard Thomas.  Thanks also to our community representative, Wolf Goethert along with faculty representatives Lynne Bazydlo, Laura Chase, Elizabeth McRae, and Allison Sullivan.  Our School Improvement Plan, developed last year for the 2018-2020 school years, can be found here as well as on our webpage.

New Beal Building Project Update

At the October 22nd Special Town Meeting, a vote will be taken on approval to borrow the funds necessary to construct the proposed new Beal School at the current Glavin Center site on Lake Street.

On November 6th, there will be a town-wide election that will decide whether to provide the funding necessary to build the new Kindergarten through Grade 4 Beal School through a debt exclusion ballot question.

For those interested, there are two upcoming opportunities for parents and community members to tour the current Beal School.  The tours will be led by Beal School Principal, Chris Girardi.  These dates are: Tuesday, October 2nd from 6:30-7:15pm, Tuesday, October 16th from 5-6pm.  All are welcome.

SEPAC Meeting

Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is a volunteer organization made up of parents and caregivers whose children receive special education services through the Shrewsbury Public Schools. We provide a forum for parents and caregivers to share experiences and exchange information. Together, we work for understanding, respect, support and the appropriate education of all children with special needs in our community.

Please join us for our first meeting of the year on Thursday, 10/11 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the Floral Street School Media Center. We'll be discussing upcoming events and connecting with members new and old. Refreshments will be provided. All are welcome.

PTO is Seeking Volunteers Throughout the Year

With the fun year ahead, PTO has planned many fun family centered activities and are in need of your help!  Please consider filling out the form your child will be bringing home today in his/her Monday folder or printing the attached copy and returning it to the main office.  We are seeking volunteers for a wide range of opportunities!  We are very grateful for your support!

Spring Street School Council

We are looking for parent representatives to join School Council.  Our School Council is an advisory board comprised of teachers, parents, a community representative, and the building principal to determine our school’s needs, priorities, and collaboratively work towards implementing our School Improvement Plan.  School Council holds bi-monthly before-school meetings on a Thursday morning from 7:45-8:30am.  If you’re interested in finding out more information or to volunteer to serve on our council, please send an email to me at bmabie@shrewsbury.k12.ma.us  If more parents volunteer than needed, we will schedule an ‘election’ to determine participants.  The first meeting will be an ‘all councils’ meeting on Monday, October 1 at 7:00pm at Shrewsbury High School for school councils from all Shrewsbury schools.  This meeting is the only evening meeting for this group.
