August 28, 2025 1:15pm Update
Shrewsbury Families & Staff,
The Shrewsbury Police have lifted the shelter-in-place in the Jordan Pond area and there is no ongoing threat. Please note:
1) All students and staff remain safe.
2) Except for Coolidge School, dismissal and afternoon bus routes at all other schools will be as usual. Some bus stops for high school and middle school students in the Jordan Pond/Edgewater/Plainfield neighborhood may be modified due to ongoing road closures but students will be able to get to their homes.
3) Coolidge families were sent a separate message regarding going to Coolidge as soon as you are able to dismiss your child(ren), with instructions
4) Coolidge families whose children went to Beal School on the bus have all been communicated with to arrange pick up.
Thank you to the Shrewsbury Police and Fire Departments and Town Manager's office for their assistance today. The staff at Coolidge School, Beal School, Central Office, and AA Transportation who handled this very challenging situation did an outstanding job, and I am grateful for their efforts. Our students were kept safe and well cared for throughout this incident.
Respectfully,
Joe Sawyer
Superintendent of Schools
