Floral After School Activities Program

Throughout the year, Floral offers a variety of hour-long after-school activities for a small fee.  Classes run once per week for six weeks, and each session costs $40.  Registration for the spring session is now open through the parent portal. Class size is limited, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Payment is due at the time of registration.  Unpaid registrations will be automatically deleted.

All classes meet on Wednedays from 3:45-4:45 at Floral St. School - students may only register for one class.

Grades: 2, 3, 4

Instructor: Lucia Carrasco
Description: Students will get in contact with the beauty of Spanish. Led by a Spanish native teacher, this program offers interactive learning through games, hands-on activities and collaboration with classmates. Students will also learn Spanish through the culture, while having fun!

Class: Chess without Stress - INTERMEDIATE level
Grades: 2, 3, 4
Time: Wednesdays, 3:45-4:45
Dates: April 24, April 29, May 6, May 13, May 20 and June 6 (no class May 30)

Instructor: Kavita Bhatia
Description: This course is intended for students who already have developed basic understanding of rules of the chess game. Chess is a great educational tool that improves focus, develops creativity, builds resilience and confidence, and helps a child to remain calm, and think rationally under pressure. In this course, the student will learn chess tactics and various strategies in a very interesting and meaningful manner. We encourage our students to participate actively in the class. The student will play and analyze their games, practice puzzles and take turns, discuss popular games and learn from the mistakes. Basic knowledge of piece movements and rules is required.

Additional Information

• Students are supervised from 3:30-3:45.Class begins at 3:45.
• There is no transportation provided for this class.  Parents must pick up their child in the Floral lobby promptly at 4:45
• Students who are enrolled in extended day will be brought to the cafeteria after class and you may pick them up from ESC as you normally would
• Class fees are non-refundable.  Credit will not be given if your child misses a class.  If a class is cancelled (for inclement weather or teacher illness) we will make every effort to offer a make-up class on a different date

Registration Instructions:

• Log into the Parent Portal.
• From the navigation menu on the left, select “Sports and Activities”
• Choose the class you wish to take by clicking “Assign Fee”
• From the navigation menu, select “Payment Center” and you will be redirected to School Pay

Your spot is not reserved until you have completed your payment. Unpaid registrations will be automatically deleted.
