March 18, 2019

Our Fun Fair is on Sunday!  There are many opportunities for helping out on this very busy, fun, and worthwhile day, the sign up is below.  No need for a huge time commitment, even an hour will help.  The proceeds of our Fun Fair supports Museum of Science visits to Spring Street School, author visits to our school, transportation for field trips, and many other ‘behind the scenes’ support that makes your child’s experience at school one that is engaging and enriching.  Please consider offering to help on Sunday, March 24th.  Thank you!

Spring-a-Palooza THIS WEEKEND! WE STILL NEED  VOLUNTEERS

The Spring Street School Fun Fair is this Sunday, March 24th from 12 - 4 p.m.  This is the Spring Street School PTO’s largest fundraiser of the year.  This event raises the critical PTO funds that are used for field trips, author visits, technology for the school, and many other items that round out our children’s educational experience at Spring Street.  For those of you who haven’t been to the Fun Fair, it is a fun-filled event for the children and their families and one of the events that makes Spring Street School the special place that it is. As you can imagine, it takes a village to hold this event.

*The Fun Fair Committee is still looking for many volunteers to staff the crafts, games and food sales on Sunday.  If you can spare an hour on Sunday to help staff the fair’s activities, please sign up with this link. Any time you can spare would be much appreciated. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090D4CAEA92DA64-funfair

*Additionally, the Sweet Walk Committee is looking for volunteers to drop off any bought or baked dessert items, individually wrapped candy, or anything sweet that can be given out as prizes to the children who are participating in the Sweet Walk game.  Kindly drop off your donations on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the school or on Sunday before the Fun Fair begins at noon. Please use this sign up genius to let us know what you will be bringing https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0C48ABAE28A1F58-springapalooza1

Cartooning Classes at Spring Street School

Spring is here! At Young Rembrandts that means one thing :  CARTOONING! Now’s the time we change things up a bit and end the year without well-loved cartoon lessons. No time for Spring fever in here! Kids love these fun and fast paced classes— we draw multiple pictures each week, tied together by a common theme or by together telling a sequential story. We focus on movement and action , personifying inanimate objects making them come to life in ways we don’t expect! Come join the fun! Cartooning fills quickly and your artist won’t want to miss out! Class begins at SSS on April 4; registration is now open at https://swboston-centralma.asapconnected.com/?org=4036#eventid=1407101

Spring Street School PTO Direct Donation Campaign

The PTO is excited to sponsor many wonderful programs and events for your children and our community this year.  We hope that you will consider making a contribution to our Direct Donation Campaign. Your support allows the PTO, a non-profit organization, to continue to provide community events, enrichment activities and the purchase of supplies and materials that are not included in the annual school budget for Spring Street School. If you would like to make a donation today, you can donate online at: https://squareup.com/store/spring-street-parent-teachers-organization-inc

Volunteering Requirement-CORI Checks

Anyone volunteering at our school must participate in the Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check before volunteering.  Volunteering includes classroom volunteering, field trips, field day, etc. Once a CORI check has been completed, your ‘CORI’ is valid for 3 years.  CORI checks are applicable to any volunteering in the Shrewsbury Public Schools. Unfortunately, CORIs completed elsewhere are not valid for Shrewsbury Public Schools.  This link can be used to access the form.  Please return the completed form in person to Mrs. Judith Adair, our secretary, with your license for the CORI to begin being processed.  Please allow for at least 2 weeks for CORI checks to be completed before participating in any volunteer activities at our school. Volunteers without a completed and processed CORI will be unable to volunteer until the process is complete.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Shriners' Hospitals Can Pull Tab Collection

We all feel so much better when we help others! Shriners' Hospitals around the world help children and their families with life-threatening conditions. We are fortunate to have a Shriners' right next door in Springfield, MA. We can help by collecting/bagging can pull tabs and bringing them into school. Thanks to Mrs. Welch for spearheading this donation drive! Please see the attached document for more information.
