The Shrewsbury Education Foundation consistently recognizes and supports outstanding faculty, staff, and other school community members through awards such as the John P. Collins Award for Excellence and grants to support a wide variety of initiatives in schools and classrooms.

On Saturday, The Shrewsbury Education Foundation will be recognizing all award recipients at a dinner at Cyprian Keyes.  This year Spring Street School volunteer, Mr. Wolf Goethert, will be recognized with a John P. Collins award for his longtime, consistent, and generous volunteering at Spring Street School.  Many years ago Mr. Goethert, a Spring Street School grandparent and fresh to retirement and relocation to Shrewsbury, offered to volunteer in his granddaughters’ classrooms. Eventually, his granddaughters (Melinda and Gretchen Telford) moved on to Sherwood Middle School but Mr. Goethert remained!  Mr. Goethert not only continues to volunteer multiple times per week but has also become our Community Representative for our School Council. We are very appreciative of Mr. Goethert’s patience, kind and caring mannerism, and commitment to supporting our students. Congratulations for this recognition and a big thank you to Mr. Goethert for his dedication in supporting many initiatives at our school!

We are grateful to SEF for their consistent support and dedication in recognizing exceptional contributions to school community and for supporting enriching learning experiences for all students in our school and district.  For more information, please visit www.sefgrants.org

Special Education Parent Advisory Council Meeting
Please join us on Thursday, 2/7 from 7:00 - 8:30 pm in the Floral Street School Media Center. We'll be discussing upcoming events and connecting with members new and old. Refreshments will be provided. All are welcome.
Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is a volunteer organization made up of parents and caregivers whose children receive special education services through the Shrewsbury Public Schools. We provide a forum for parents and caregivers to share experiences and exchange information. Together, we work for understanding, respect, support and the appropriate education of all children with special needs in our community.

All School Meeting Sharing
Students have an opportunity to share at our January 25th All School Meeting.  Students are encouraged to create something to share their understanding of our character trait focus for January, self management with the book My Mouth is a Volcano as our anchor for our discussion.  Students can share something they’ve written, a video they’ve created,  a skit they’ve developed, or another type of presentation. Students can work on their own or with a friend or classmate. Information is attached.

Spring Street School PTO Direct Donation Campaign
The PTO is excited to sponsor many wonderful programs and events for your children and our community this year.  We hope that you will consider making a contribution to our Direct Donation Campaign. Your support allows the PTO, a non-profit organization, to continue to provide community events, enrichment activities and the purchase of supplies and materials that are not included in the annual school budget for Spring Street School. If you would like to make a donation today, you can donate online at: https://squareup.com/store/spring-street-parent-teachers-organization-inc

Volunteering Requirement-CORI Checks
Anyone volunteering at our school must participate in the Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check before volunteering.  Volunteering includes classroom volunteering, field trips, field day, etc. Once a CORI check has been completed, your ‘CORI’ is valid for 3 years.  CORI checks are applicable to any volunteering in the Shrewsbury Public Schools. Unfortunately, CORIs completed elsewhere are not valid for Shrewsbury Public Schools.  This link can be used to access the form.  Please return the completed form in person to Mrs. Judith Adair, our secretary, with your license for the CORI to begin being processed.  Please allow for at least 2 weeks for CORI checks to be completed before participating in any volunteer activities at our school. Volunteers without a completed and processed CORI will be unable to volunteer until the process is complete.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Shriners' Hospitals Can Pull Tab Collection
We all feel so much better when we help others! Shriners' Hospitals around the world help children and their families with life-threatening conditions. We are fortunate to have a Shriners' right next door in Springfield, MA. We can help by collecting/bagging can pull tabs and bringing them into school. Thanks to Mrs. Welch for spearheading this donation drive! Please see the attached document for more information.
