OMS WEEKLY UPDATE TO FAMILIES

adirondack chairs

June 9, 2019

Dear OMS Families,

This week we bid farewell and celebrate the close of another great year at Oak Middle School.  It looks like we will enjoy good weather for the field days, grade 7 on Monday and Grade 8 on Wednesday.  Also this week, we will host our annual Grade 8 Carnival Night.   This event is for OMS grade 8 students only, beginning at 5:30.  We will have inflatables, face painting, photo booth, ice cream sundaes, cotton candy, and a reptile show.  The evening’s big attraction is hypnotist, Dan Candell.  This is always a special treat for us and promises lots of laughs.  We are so fortunate to have Dan, a former Oak Middle School student, return year after year to entertain us!

Please take a moment to respond to our annual family survey.   The School Council and Oak Middle School staff uses your feedback on our performance this past year to set improvement goals for the coming year.  The survey will be open until Friday, June 14th.  Your responses are greatly appreciated!

Summer Spark

An exciting new summer program for rising Freshman, Sophomores & Juniors at Shrewsbury High School

Summer Spark is an exciting week-long experience that will take students beyond the walls of a traditional classroom to AWAKEN new interests, INSPIRE existing passions and EXCITE eager minds.  It's a summer program like none we have offered before.  Each class is rich with hands-on activities, field trips, and engaging instruction, all designed to ignite the spark to learn, discover and, most of all, have fun.  At the end of the week, we hope to have inspired students and teachers alike, where students continue pursuing the interests fueled by the depth of their experiences and teachers feel energized by the opportunity to explore a new topic or a different style of teaching.

Classes run the week of July 8th-12th, Monday thru Friday from 9am to 3pm at Shrewsbury High School.
Cost is $300 - $325, depending on the class
