Dear OMS Families,
This past week brought some changes for our remote learning program.  The staff at OMS is working to provide a more consistent remote learning schedule for staff and students to follow in an effort to bring some routine to our “school days.”   Overall, you can expect your middle schooler to have around 2- 3 hours of work per day with specific remote learning activities scheduled as indicated by the table below. This schedule is designed to work in concert with the elementary and high school schedules and prevent conflicts where devices are being shared among family members.

Team Activity

Teachers are providing “live” experiences such as synchronous and asynchronous discussion boards, Zoom meetings, screencasts, live quizzes, homeroom meetings, and whole team activities.  I had fun participating in 7 Red’s team meeting on Friday where the students played a lively game of Kahoot.  Although my Kahoot skills need some work, it was great to hear all the chatter among the kids who clearly enjoyed spending time “together.”

This week we will issue the Trimester 2 report cards.  These will be available online for viewing through the Powerschool parent Portal.  More information on when and how to access will be available mid-week.  Be on the lookout for an email with instructions.

And lastly, this week’s message comes with a heavy heart.  We know there are members of the Oak community who are experiencing cases of COVID-19 in their households. Our hearts are with you while you deal with challenges this virus brings.  We are grateful to all of you for doing your part by staying at home and supporting each other.

Stay safe and healthy.

Oak Building Access
The District has closed all school buildings to the public until the scheduled reopening on May 4th.  All schools have been sanitized.  We cannot accommodate individual requests to reopen schools at this time and risk compromising the integrity of the cleaning. Students are advised to make do with the resources they have at home.  Thank you for understanding the unique circumstances and challenges this pandemic has presented to us.
