OMS WEEKLY UPDATE TO FAMILIES

spring flowers

April 7, 2019

Dear OMS Families,

This week we begin our new spring sports schedule.  Spring track practice begins at the Oak track with our first meet at home on April 23rd.  Also, our very first EVER Oak baseball and softball games are on Tuesday  Baseball will be played at the Oak fields, but we are still unsure of the location of our softball games.  Hopefully, they will also be at the Oak fields, but due to wet conditions, we may have to relocate to the Maple Street field.   Stay tuned for the final location which will be posted on our website.

Please see below for full game and meet schedules.  We hope to see lots of families, staff, and  students come out to support the teams!

Respectfully,
Ann

A Message from our Main Office and Nurses
Our main office has seen an increase in the number of students who are bypassing the school nurse and texting parents from personal cell phones to ask that they be picked up because the student isn’t feeling well.

Our policy is that students who are not feeling well will visit the school nurse.  The nurse will assess the child and make a determination about whether or not the child should return to class or be sent home.

While we work hard to manage cell phone access and usage in the school, we are also asking for your help.  Please remind your child that when they are not feeling well, they should go to nurse rather than text you.   If your child does call or text you from school saying that they are not feeling well, please tell them that you need them to go to nurse and that you will need to hear from the nurse if the child is sick enough to be sent home.

Our nurses are here to help students and families and we know parents are busy.  Let’s work together so we can keep students in class and learning as much as possible.

Congratulations to the Select Band and Choir
On Friday and Saturday, our OMS Select Band and Choirs performed at the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors  (MICCA) Festival in Westborough and Hopkinton.  Both performance groups won silver medals!   Congratulations to all students, to band director, Mr. Uglialoro and Choir Director, Mr. Clark, and many thanks to all the families who came out to support them!

OMS Track Team

If you are experiencing a job loss or significant decrease in household income, you may apply for Free or Reduced Meals at the weblink below at anytime during the school year.  Eligibility for Free or Reduced Meals is the financial means test that the District uses to either reduce or waive other school-based fees.
