Spring Street Link

March 12, 2018

Our Fun Fair will take place on Sunday from 12:00-4:00pm.  This year’s theme, Spring-a-Palooza, promises to be a fun filled afternoon with games, food, basket raffles, silent auction, and more.  Our Fun Fair will provide families with the opportunity to spend the afternoon having fun and supporting our school.  We are grateful for the many parent volunteers to have worked hard the past few months to make our fair a reality.  A preview of our Silent Auction items as well as other Fun Fair information can be found below.  Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Spring-a-Palooza THIS WEEKEND!

The Spring Street School Fun Fair is this Sunday, March 18th from 12 - 4 p.m.  This is the Spring Street School PTO’s largest fundraiser of the year.  This event raises the critical PTO funds that are used for field trips, author visits, technology for the school, and many other items that round out our children’s educational experience at Spring Street.  For those of you who haven’t been to the Fun Fair, it is a fun-filled event for the children and their families and one of the events that makes Spring Street School the special place that it is. As you can imagine, it takes a village to hold this event.

*The Fun Fair Committee is still looking for many volunteers to staff the crafts, games and food sales on Sunday.  If you can spare an hour on Sunday to help staff the fair’s activities, please sign up with this link. Any time you can spare would be much appreciated. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0a4daca62ba2fc1-funfair

*Additionally, the Sweet Walk Committee is looking for volunteers to drop off any bought or baked dessert items, individually wrapped candy, or anything sweet that can be given out as prizes to the children who are participating in the Sweet Walk game.  Kindly drop off your donations on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the school or on Sunday before the Fun Fair begins at noon. Please use this sign up genius to let us know what you will be bringing http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c48abae28a1f58-springapalooza

*Don't wait until the day of the Fun Fair to get your activity and basket raffle tickets…bypass the ticket purchase line by ordering them in advance!  Tickets can be purchased online via credit card at https://squareup.com/store/spring-street-parent-teachers-organization-inc

Thank you so much for your help with this wonderful community building event!

Gift of Knowledge Information

What better way to celebrate a birthday than by donating a book to the Spring Street Media Center?  For a small fee, the birthday child will attend a special breakfast in the cafeteria before school from 8:30-9:00am, select a book with a personalized book plate acknowledging their generosity, and be the first one to take that book home!  Look for your child's invitation approximately 2 weeks before their scheduled celebration day.  Upcoming dates are as follows:

4/4/18 (March, April and May birthdays)

5/16/18 (June, July and August birthdays)

Volunteering Requirement-CORI Checks

Anyone volunteering at our school must participate in the Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check before volunteering.  Volunteering includes classroom volunteering, field trips, field day, etc.  Once a CORI check has been completed, your ‘CORI’ is valid for 3 years.  CORI checks are applicable to any volunteering in the Shrewsbury Public Schools.  Unfortunately, CORIs completed elsewhere are not valid for Shrewsbury Public Schools.  This link can be used to access the form.  Please return the completed form in person to Mrs. Judith Adair, our secretary, with your license for the CORI to begin being processed.  Please allow for at least 2 weeks for CORI checks to be completed before participating in any volunteer activities at our school.  Volunteers without a completed and processed CORI will be unable to volunteer until the process is complete.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
