We Raised Over $55,800 in the 2016-2017 School Year!
Thanks to the generosity of so many people and businesses, the 2016-2017 school year was a very successful for the Colonial Fund so far!
On Sunday, April 9th, we held our 9th Annual Road Scholars Race to benefit the Shrewsbury Public Schools Colonial Fund. From the proceeds of the race, we were able to raise over $9,000 for the Colonial Fund, while providing a fun family event for Shrewsbury and other neighboring towns. The event included activities for the kids while the 5k event was in progress, and exercise and stretching tips, offered by local area health and wellness businesses.
Last fall, our Innovation Partner, Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union gave us $5,000 and challenged us to raise an additional $5000, which they would match. Within a month we met the challenge and Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union gave $10,000 to the Colonial Fund, for a total of $15,000 raised.
Just before Thanksgiving, we held our Second Annual Farmer's Market where local farmers and artisans sold their goods and handcrafted items. Early holiday shoppers were excited to support locally grown and locally crafted items, so we had a very successful event, raising over $1,100 for the Colonial Fund.
From October 2016 to the present, we have received over $35,700 in private donations, including donations made in response to the challenge from Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union.
In total, we earned more than $55,800 for the Colonial Fund during the 2016-2017 school year.
