Leading The Nation

Leading the Nation is a statewide celebration in which Massachusetts' public schools and local communities showcase their students' academic and creative successes.  Please click here to visit  the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Leading the Nation website.

As part of this celebration, school districts were invited to participate in a contest to create a one-minute, student-made video that highlights student success in their district. Shrewsbury Public Schools’ video was selected as one of four that was featured at the April 5, 2018, Leading the Nation event at the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

Another suggested programming idea was for districts to take a selfie to “showcase what being number one looks like in your school districts.” At SPS, a request went out to all schools to take a photo (or photos) on a typical day (Wednesday, February 28) and to submit one or more that they felt best reflects how they help students achieve success. The photos were consolidated to provide this “snapshot” of a typical day in our high-performing district:
