GREETINGS
FROM COOLIDGE SCHOOL
September 8, 2015

Dear Families,
I couldnÕt be prouder of our students, your
children. As expected they are spirited, kind, and cooperative. IÕve also seen
firsthand that they are resilient and patient, even under trying conditions.
Yesterday temperatures reached an all-time high, especially on our upper
floors. And yet, the children helped each other in the classroom, supported one
another in refilling water bottles in the hallways, shared air conditioned
spaces throughout the building with enthusiasm and worked together to keep the
focus on learning.
We always expect a few hiccups at the start of
the year. There are a lot of new routines to master for everyone. ItÕs nice to know that the heat has
made for a bonding experience for our school community. Please know that we
continue to put important safety measures in place:
á
every student has access
to water.
á
we are sharing the cool
spaces in the building (the modular classrooms and the Media Center) and
rotating students through them thoughtfully.
á
P.E and recess were held
indoors for most grades, and our Nurse, Mrs. Zimmermann is keeping a close eye
on the heat index, and
á
we continue to monitor
the temperatures in individual classrooms closely so we can adjust accordingly.
We anticipate a change for the better tomorrow.
Please continue to send your child in with a water bottle and a healthy snack
every day. This will help us fuel learning for the long haul.
Sincerely,
Amy

Principal

1.
Summer Reading
Teachers at all levels are still looking for summer reading lists from
some students. Grade 4 requests Math calendars at your earliest convenience.
2. I am using a new message system to send this to you, one that is
linked to PowerSchool. All Coolidge families should receive all communications
like this. If you hear of a friend that is missing out, please refer them to
Mrs. Cairns so we can look into it. Thanks!
